| The 149th Mixed Brigade was established in May 1937 on the Madrid Front, based on the 5th Battalion of the 75th Anarchist Mixed Brigade. The 149th Mixed Brigade was assigned to the 6th Division, where it covered the Puente de los Franceses sector on the Madrid Front. The brigade did not take part in the Battle of Brunete. On March 17, 1938, she was sent to the Aragonese front north of Ebra, on March 24, she lost Velilla, and on March 26, she covered the sector between Fraga and Ebro and defended Lleida. On July 27, 1938, she crossed the river to take part in the Battle of Ebro and took over the sector from the forces of the 35th Division before Gandes until August 3, when it was exchanged to cover the approaches to La Fatarella. She was then transferred to the reserve, but when she was to return to the front at Gaeta Vertex, she escaped in disarray without even entering the fight. He was moved from the bridgehead to the rear in order to restore combat readiness. At the beginning of the Battle of Catalonia, the subsector covered Serós in front of the bridgehead under the command of Major General militia Eduard Pérez Segura. On December 23, 1938, she left her trenches in panic again, swept away by the panic of the 179th Mixed Brigade. Perez Segura was removed from office and replaced by Major Filemont. It was withdrawn from the front again in order to restore its combat readiness, but there was no time left, and its remnants joined the general retreat towards Artés and the border. |
