Jiné významné skutečnosti: (maximálně tři) Other Notable Facts: (up to three) | - americký armádní letec 2. světové a Vietnamské války, když byl v roce 1985 propuštěn, byl posledním letcem z 2. světové války v aktivní službě - kvůli službě ve Vietnamu se vzdal hodnosti podplukovníka u letectva (kde mu řekli, že pro další vyšší důstojníky už nemají místo) a přihlásil se jako poddůstojník k armádě, kde létat s lékařským vrtulníkem, zde létal se svým synem a tvořili tak jediný tandem otec/syn mezi zdravotními letci ve Vietnamu - za dobu Vietnamské války vykonal celkem 2 543 letů a přepravil celkem 5 589 raněných, mezi nimiž byl i jeho syn Michael Joseph ml. (ten mu to oplatil o týden později, kdy byl sám sestřelen a syn ho zachránil) | - american army airman of WW2 and Vietnam War, in 1985, when he retired, he was the last WW2 aviator on active duty - for service in Vietnam he gave up his rank of Lieutenant Colonel in USAF (where he was told, that they did not have space for any more officers in the upper ranks) and join army as NCO, where he flew with medevac helicopter, there he flew with his son and were the only father/son medical evacuation pilots in Vietnam - during Vietnam War he flew 2,543 missions and extracted 5,589 wounded personnel, among them his own son Michael J. Novosel Jr (the following week, Michael Jr. returned the favor by extracting his father after he was shot down) |
